Quality Field Inspector - Boston, MA

ARC Alternative and Renewable Construction seeks a qualified Quality Field Inspectors to support our Transportation Infrastructure division in Boston MA. The Quality FIeld Inspector will perform on-site assessments of construction contractors’ implementation of the approved QC plan and prepare thorough written reports of their findings. This position will review and verify adequacy of contractor’s QC testing programs, identify nonconformances, and verify completion of required corrective actions.

Project Scope:

Owner’s Representative / Construction Management

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of construction projects to verify implementation of approved project QC plan and adherence to applicable quality requirements

  • Inspect work in place, work in progress and workmanship against quality plans to identify adherence to the quality requirements.

  • Prepare written quality surveillance reports for project sites and fabricator shops inspected

  • Participate in formal Quality Audits of Contractor QC Procedures

  • Review quality related submittals for conformance with the plans and specifications

  • Recommend issuance of non-conformance reports as needed

  • Provide technical guidance regarding QC inspection and testing to field staff.

  • Work with Project Owner field staff to verify resolution of non-conforming work in accordance with approved procedures.

  • Review acceptance requests for conformance with specified criteria

  • Complete other related tasks as assigned

  • Report to the Senior Quality Manager

  • Drive a company or personal vehicle to work sites to perform Quality Control Inspections as needed

  • Additional assignments as required, associated with traditional construction quality field inspection scope of services

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in performing quality control inspections.

  • Formal Quality Control training from a recognized agency (NTI, NETTCP, NICET or similar)

  • The selected candidate will be capable of reviewing contract drawings, specifications, standards, shop drawings, and other technical documents related to construction contracts.

  • The selected candidate shall have strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and good written and oral communication skills.

  • The Candidate shall have the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint computer applications.

  • The candidate shall have the ability to address large groups as well as the ability to handle potentially sensitive situations with construction contractors and engineering consultants.

  • Ability to comprehend, communicate, and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English

  • Ability to supervise or work effectively with diverse workforce

  • Ability to adhere to rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the public transportation owner, including anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and anti-retaliation policies

  • Ability to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check, comprehensive background screening, and role-appropriate medical clinic screening, potentially including a physical examination and drug and alcohol screening 

  • Have a satisfactory work record for the two (2) years immediately prior to the closing date of this posting, including overall employment, job performance, discipline, and safety records (infractions and/or offenses occurring after the closing of the posting and before the filling of a vacancy may preclude a candidate from consideration for selection)

  • Ability to uphold the rights and interests of the Company and the Project Owner while building and maintaining effective relationships with employees and co-workers

  • Ability to work all shifts and / or locations assigned, directed, or necessary for this position, including (for some transit / operations roles) up to twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week as necessary to accommodate severe weather conditions, emergencies, or any other circumstances that may potentially impact service or the safety of service

  • Salary range: $75 - $85/hour based on full-time (40-hour/week) employment as an exempt employee. Benefits included.

 

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • ACI Field Testing Technician

  • ACI Concrete Field inspector

  • Certified as an American Welding Society (AWS) Inspector

  • NACE Certified Coatings Inspector (Level 1 or higher)

  • NETTCP Quality Assurance Technician

  • PCI QC Technician
